The Poitevints

Isaiah 26:3-4,8 "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal. Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws,we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts."

Christmas 2005

We have been in our new house for almost two months. There is still so much to do. We hope that as Elaine slowly starts to get past her morning sickness, we can get busy! Before we moved into our house, Pastor Chuck and his family came over and prayed for us and for our new home. We asked that God would use this home for his glory. We wanted it to be used whenever possible. Well.....that was answered all in one week! Our Sunday school class had a party here on Tuesday the 20th. Aunt Janice (on Thad's side) came over to help Elaine get a few things ready for Christmas on Wednesday. We got a phone call from our dear friends Brian and Annalee Cochran that same day wondering if they could stay with us through Christmas because some of their plans had changed. Elaine quickly got on the phone and got a twin bed for Justus Cochran who is 3 weeks older than Kenan. They arrived late that evening and Kenan was so excited to see his friend that he prays for every night that he ran around until he started panting....then he started coughing....and then he puked! Welcome to our home! :) Our nephews, Jesse and Jeremy, had dinner with us on Friday and later that evening we had some drop in guests. On Christmas Eve the Cochran's joined us at Elaine's parents' house. Saturday night....all of the Poitevints came over. Our sister-in-law was given some difficult news concerning a family tragedy so their two boys spent Christmas Eve with us. So, Brian and Annalee were in our guest room downstairs. Kenan was in his room. Justus was in his. Jesse slept in the playroom with Jeremy until about 3 a.m. when Jeremy decided to sleep with us. On Christmas morning, the kids were all excited. Jesse and Jeremy got an official note from Santa letting them know that he had left some cool stuff for them at their house. Annalee had her hands full on Christmas morning because before church she had cooked pancakes for everyone who had spent the night and for Elaine's parents and Thad's parents! We also cooked some of Paw Paw's eggs from the farm and some sausage. Sunday afternoon, we crashed..... So, here we are the day after Christmas. Kenan and Justus are playing hard and napping harder. We had a few more friends over tonight. The little ones celebrated Jesus birthday so we had a cake and candles! It was really neat to hear them all when we asked them whose birthday we were celebrating. Even Kenan was quick to say, "Jesus!" We do feel so blessed in our lives. We have a great 2 year old....wonderful families and friends. By this time next year, we will have another little one in our home. Life is good. For now, we are just enjoying where God has us in life. Since we did not send out Christmas cards this year, we hope all of the ones we love had a very merry Christmas and we wish you all a blessed New Year.

Elaine and Thad,
A very Merry Christmas to you and your family. I was hoping your news update might give a hint to Kenan's sibling's brother or sister. We just got home from China last night with our newest bundle of joy, all forty pounds of him. He is all boy. He really likes big sister Kirstin and big brother Ryan. He is definitely a Daddy's boy. Today he quickly realized there are no buffet breakfasts at our home like all the hotels we have been staying in for the past two weeks. So it was a bowl of apple jacks.

Love,
Gail Daras

Hey guys! It is so great to see pictures of Kenan! Mom was right--he is so cute. I am excited for all that is going on in your lives! I came back to GA for Christmas and spent nearly a week at home. It was nice to spend time with my family and to not worry about work. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Love,
Meredith
